Yorkshire fixes bond rate at 5%

Savers with at least £100 of funds to invest are invited to take advantage of a new fixed rate savings bond from Yorkshire Building Society.

The two year bond, available for a limited period, is due to be launched on May 2nd and will offer a rate of five per cent to all Yorkshire's existing and new customers.

The new account includes a monthly interest option at 4.89 per cent paid on the last day of the month for those savers who rely on their investment for an income.

For those opting for annual interest rate it will be paid on July 31st 2007 and 2008.

"The new two year fixed rate product offers savers the certainty that their interest rate is protected irrespective of any reduction in the Bank of England Base Rate," explained Chris Edwards from Yorkshire Building Society.

"Interest rates may not stay this high for long so we expect the new bond to be very popular."
