RBS bonus for savers

If you're thinking of opening a new savings account and you have £500 to spare, you could try the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) which is offering a one per cent bonus to new savers.

You can take advantage of the offer if you open an Instant Savings Tracker account or a First Home Saver account between March 20th 2006 and May 15th 2006.

The high street bank says both accounts come with a cashline card which will allow customers to make three free withdrawals per quarter.

The First Home Saver account is designed to encourage first-time buyers to save their deposit and savers can receive tax-free cash back of up to £360 upon completion of their RBS mortgage.

Darrell Evans, RBS spokesman, said: "The accounts are a great choice for anyone who doesn’t want to tie their money up but want to earn a competitive rate of interest. The First Home Saver account is an ideal choice for those trying to get on the property ladder, with the added incentive of an extra bonus upon completion of their RBS mortgage."

The bank is also extending its guarantee to track Bank of England Rate for a further six months until January 31st 2007.
