The newly launched Pathfinder plan to provide financial advice and information in the UIK will help British consumers plan for their financial futures, it has been suggested.
Responding to the government's announcement that it intends to make generic financial advisory services available in various parts of the country, the Aegon Group said such a service could have a significant beneficial impact.
Aegon provides services to people saving for retirement and its chief executive Otto Thoresen compiled the report on which the government is basing its strategy to introduce generic financial advice.
"Today's action plan represents an important step forward in helping people in the UK have a better understanding of money issues and therefore encouraging them to make the right decisions and take responsibility for their financial futures," said Mr Thoresen.
In order to support themselves in retirement, the typical individual in the UK will need almost £326,700, a report from the Life Trust claimed last week.
