New IHT workshop on tour

A financial services group is taking a new series of inheritance tax (IHT) workshops providing financial advisers with an understanding of the new regulations, allowing them to better inform consumers to plan their tax affairs.

Zurich has launched the programmes with contributions from Adviser Breakthrough and Technical Connection.

The programme is being toured around the country, from venues in Manchester, Leeds and London in November to Newport and Birmingham in December.

Zurich aims to offer advisers a new viewpoint on IHT planning and inform them of the various methods which consumers can use for such planning.

Tony Wickenden of Technical Connection noted that with increased consumer awareness and demand of IHT planning, that independent financial advisers need to be aware of how to best provide information on the issue.

"Through our contribution to the programmes we hope to help equip advisers to respond to their clients' increasingly complex needs," he added.

Last month, financial adviser Origen published a guide for consumers informing them of their options for IHT planning.

The guide advises those liable for IHT payments to make use of available exemptions and reliefs and to transfer assets to partners.
