A distribution fund offered by F&C is nearing a record figure of £250 million, the company reports.
F&C has acclaimed the Multi-Manager Distribution Fund's "long-term record" on returning a high yield with low instability.
The fund invests approximately 50 per cent in equity funds, 30 per cent in corporate bonds and 20 per cent in property trusts.
Richard Philbin, manager of the fund, pointed to the company's Traffic Light Analysis (TLA) system of choosing investments as a reason for its growth.
"TLA has helped us pick funds which can be bought and held for the long-term," he said.
News of the growth of this fund comes as the UK payments association Apacs gives a guide to students to inform them how to better manage their finances, while advisers inform young people to save for their study as early as possible.
