Brits urged to tackle their pensions on 'leap day'

British consumers have been urged to make use of the 'leap day' later this week by tackling any outstanding issues relating to their pension plans.

The Alliance Trust, which offers a range of retirement savings products, is keen to see people use the extra day on February 29th to reorganise their finances and is to run a live webchat to encourage the process.

A number of the organisation's experts will be on hand on Friday to answer any niggling questions people might have about how best to save for retirement or make use of a pension portfolio.

"The webchat is aimed at all levels, from those who have yet to kick off their retirement savings to those who wish to review their strategy or brush up on more technical issues," a statement from Alliance Trust explained.

Last week, Rachel Thrussell, head of savings at Moneyfacts.co.uk, insisted that now is a great time to start saving because of the level of competition for customers among financial services firms in the UK.
