The desire to set money aside on a regular basis is growing among families around the UK, according to the latest figures.
A study by GfK NOP has found that the past month saw an increase in the number of people around the country who believe "now is a good time to save".
Saving for children is a priority for many thousands of British families and the firm behind the recent research has suggested that the worsening economic climate has prompted more people to start considering their savings options more closely.
"Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months have dropped six points to -38, [which is] 20 points lower than this time last year," according to GfK NOP.
"The 'now is a good time to save' index, has risen by three points to +28."
Meanwhile, the British Building Societies Association recently reported that its members attracted record levels of savings investments over the course of last month.
